Here are some tips to help you #RecreateResponsibly in Ruidoso this season and always.

Experience our beautiful part of the world in a way that builds human connection: Beyond just sightseeing, travel is a two-way experience where visitors can learn from the locals and vice versa. Such connections lead to a richer, more authentic experience.

Care for the landscape and its inhabitants by considering your impact. Respect the land, water, wildlife, and Native and local communities. Avoid sensitive habitats. Take roads slowly and understand your impact on your surroundings. Even if you’re away from others, sound travels far in the outdoors. Keep parks and recreation areas clean to help future visitors—and to protect wildlife from harm.

Bring a reusable water bottle and shopping bag to reduce the amount of one-time use plastics.

Pay attention to your surroundings with wildlife and wildfire in mind. Ruidoso offers a unique opportunity to view animals in their natural habitat. And yet, it is important to remember to treat wildlife with proper caution and respect. The safety of the animals, as well as your safety, depends on it.

Be respectful of others. Avoid blocking trails, and give space to people recreating or working. Please be gracious and patient with businesses as they continue to ramp up staffing. We are all adjusting to a new normal, and your courtesy will be much appreciated.
