History buffs won’t want to miss this wild-west lecture by historian Dan Jones about the past-to-present story behind the legendary Lincoln County Angus V V Ranch hosted at the Hubbard Museum of the American West.

Come for a talk and book signing at the Hubbard Museum of the American West presented by Dr. Cynthia E. Orozco for her new release “Adela Sloss-Vento: Mexican American Civil Rights Activist and Texas Feminist”. Dr. Orozco is a Professor of History and Humanities at Eastern New Mexico University in Ruidoso and a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and UCLA. Smithsonian Movie Screening The Green Book: Guide to Freedom Explore some of the segregated nation's safe havens and notorious “sundown towns” and witness stories of struggle and indignity as well as opportunity and triumph. Beauty & Strength: the Horse in Art features objects from the permanent collection at the Hubbard Museum of the American West, including traditional art, household items, children's toys, and fashionable accessories that all feature the horse. Come and learn why horses were, and are, a popular subject matter in art. The exhibit also features activities and games that people of any age can enjoy.

The significance and making of traditional Cochiti Pueblo drums will be the focus of a presentation May 11, 2019, at the Hubbard Museum of the American West in Ruidoso Downs.
